Southside Description


Savannah’s Southside is a shopping designation. There are 2 malls -- Oglethorpe Mall and Savannah Mall. There are literally acres of shops, restaurants, hotels; and a number of recreational facilities there. Three Savannah hospitals can also be found on Southside Savannah. Southside Savannah offers a variety of living choices at a variety of prices. Georgetown, Coffee Bluff, Thunderbolt and Vernonburg are a handful of the residential offerings at Savannah Southside. Georgetown offers upscale living in a country setting. Vernonburg (on the Vernon River) and Coffee Bluff are historic, waterfront communities with large homes on large lots. Vernonburg was established in 1742 and consists of less than 200 homes. Thunderbolt backs up to the Wilmington River and has a population of approximately 2000. Many single family and condominium homes are available in the well-established Thunderbolt community. The Southside of Savannah offers country-style, suburban living in a convenient location. Most homes are less than 10 minutes from I-95. Entertainment and quick escapes are a breeze from the Southside. The Savannah Hilton Head Airport is a 15-minute commute and historic downtown Savannah is a 20-minute jaunt.
